Mustangs grasp second-place in Anne Arundel Country
Meade defeated South River, 43-36, in an Anne Arundel Boys' Conference matchup on Tuesday night behind Mahzi Thames' 16 points. Josh Lee of South River led all scorers in the game with 20 points, accounting for over half of South River's points.

Meade's Kahleem Jennings and Syvan Sturdivant each added 6 points, while South River's Kobe Denton had 9 points on the night as South River had only four players score in the game. Meade took advantage of free throws, making 16-of-23 (70%). The strong showing from the line was necessary, as Meade went only 12-for-51 (23.5%) on field goals. Twelve turnovers also hurt Meade, but strong defense and hustle on their own end (15 defensive rebounds) allowed Meade to escape the rough shooting night with a win. It was a low-scoring game, with neither team reaching double digits in the first quarter. South River failed to reach double digits until the fourth quarter with 13 points.

With the win, Meade moved to 10-3 in the conference and 14-5 overall. Meade remains behind first place Old Mill with a slight lead on Glen Burnie for second place. South River fell to 4-7 in the conference and 5-12 overall, sitting at seventh in the conference.
