Assistant replaces Allenbach

Gilman School announced Monday the selection of Diego Mattoras as its new volleyball coach. Mattoras succeeds Will Allenbach who guided the Greyhounds the past two seasons.

Allenbach, a 2009 Gilman grad, led the Roland Park school to the MIAA final last fall after winning the league crown in 2015.

Mattoras was a varsity assistant under Allenbach and guided the junior varsity team. He also serves as Gilman's Strength and Conditioning coach.

A native of Argentina, Mattoras earned his Bachelors and Masters degree in Physical Education from his native land, and has a Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida where he served as an assistant for UCF's women's volleyball team. Mattoras was also an assistant at Johns Hopkins.
