Players to watch
Necole Hope, North Point - East Carolina recruit averaging 19.1 points and 6.2 rebounds for southern Maryland powerhouse, which won state 4A title in 2013 and reached final in 2014. Hope dropped five 3-pointers in opening quarter of rout of Severna Park in East Region final last week.
Makayla Daniels, Frederick - Sophomore guard emerged as one of state's best underclasmen, averaging 22 points and eight rebounds this season. Daniels already holds verbal scholarship offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Marshall, Richmond and St. Joseph's.
Jasmine Dickey, Catonsville - The 5-foot-10 junior forward averages 23.8 points and 9.7 rebounds for Comets, who are in first state final four since 2003. Dickey had 21 points and 15 rebounds in North Region final victory at Howard last Friday.
Stephanie Guihon, Largo - Senior guard is top scorer (27.9 points) among final four participants. Guihon finished with 20 points and five steals in South Regio final victory over southern Maryland's Westlake last week.
Ryan Jones, Atholton - Jones along with Franesca Vanegas have powered Atholton to first since final four since 2008. Five-foot-5 senior guard averaging 15.9 points for Howard County school.
Chyna Latimer, Patterson Mill - George Washington recruit hopes to send coach Holly Ismail out with third state title in four seasons. Latimer, a 5-11 guard, averages for 21 points and six rebounds for Harford County squad.
Abby Meyers, Walt Whitman - Arguably the state's top senior, Meyers (6-0 guard) averages 24.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists for defending 4A state champs. Top 100 recruit by ESPN's Hoop Gurlz, Meyers will play for Princeton next season.
Makenzie Pollard, Milford Mill Academy - Pollard (19.9 points a game) has been major reason Milford Mill is in third state 3A final four in last four seasons. Junior had 17 points in North Region final victory over C. Milton Wright last week.
Francesca Vanegas, Atholton - A four-year starter, Vanegas is averaging team-best 18 points for Raiders. Senior finished with game-high 16 points in victory over Long Reach in 3A East Region final last week.
Kamrin Weimer, Southern-Garrett - Senior guard is averaging 21.4 points for western Maryland school, seeking a fourth straight final trip (won title in 2014). Weimer will play for Fairleigh Dickinson next season.
Octavia Wilson, Eleanor Roosevelt - Senior guard is top scorer (18.1 points a game) for Prince George's County squad that won back-to-back 4A crowns in 2015 and 2014. Wilson, 5-8, will play for Charlotte next season.
