Jacob Kelly nets seven points in opening win for Calvert Hall lacrosse

Cardinals defeat Lambert (GA), 12-6, in North Carolina
In North Carolina for a season-opening swing, the Calvert Hall lacrosse team played its first game of 2017, on Saturday, and claimed a 12-6 victory over Lambert (GA), on of the top high school teams in the South.

Junior Jacob Kelly led the Cardinal offense with seven points, as he scored a pair of goals and dished out five assists. In addition, freshman Daniel Kelly, Jacob’s younger brother (both are sons of Calvert Hall coach Bryan Kelly) netted a hat-trick.

Multi-point performances were also turned in by JT Bugliosi (1 goal, 2 assist), Omari DeBerry (2 goals) and Brendan Curry (1 goal, 1 assist). Single goals were scored by Zach Green, Connor Mitchell and Justin Mintzer.

“We had great midfield play from Brendan Curry, Omari DeBerry, Zach Green, Connor Mitchell and Cole Herbert,” said Bryan Kelly. “Defensively, we were led by Dan DiPeso, George Walsh, Parker Byrd, Jack Connelly, PJ Peters, Connor Maher, Trey Smith, Collin Allen, and Ryan Swain.”

Finally, Liam Barrage started in goal for the Cardinals and made nine saves and Chance Campbell won 60% of his face-offs.
