For the Glenelg High girls' lacrosse team, "Level 10" means doing everything, whether practice or in-game to the maximum. The Gladiators may not had hit the mark in their two matches in their tournament Saturday, but left no doubt they're elite.

No. 2 Glenelg defeated fourth-ranked Notre Dame Prep, 9-7, and No. 7 Dulaney, 16-12, at Western Regional Park in Howard County Saturday. Junior Anna Callahan totaled six goals and one assist for the Gladiators (7-0 overall).

The reigning Class 3A/2A state champs never trailed, extending their winning streak to 14 games, dating back to last spring. The Burntwoods Road school has back most of its nucleus from last year's title run.

Glenelg, ranked sixth in the latest USA Today Super 25 national poll, has upped its game this spring.

"The intensity level is so different," said Glenelg coach Nicole Trunzo who succeed last year's VSN Coach of the Year Ginger Kincaid, who stepped down after 28 seasons, 316 victories and three state titles. "They worked all the time and are getting better, just playing fast."

"We want to best at our best, no matter what," said Alayna Pagnotta. "In practice, you drop a ball, you want to be going hard after the ball. Stay there all the time and the game will take care of itself."

In a matchup of defending state champs, Glenelg took over in the second half against 4A/3A titlist Dulaney. Lindsay Letellier had four goals and three assists and Pagnotta, junior Anna Callahan and Courtney Renehan each finished with hat tricks.

The Gladiators went on 9-1 surge to grab a commanding 16-7 advantage with less than 10 minutes left in regulation. Scheinberg scored twice in the second half for Glenelg, which opened a 5-0 advantage in the first 10 minutes.

The Howard County school started fast against Notre Dame Prep before a patient second half effort pushed the Gladiators. Callahan finished with three goals and three assists.

After a 4-0 lead dwindled to 4-3 by halftime, the Gladiators capitalized a couple of extra-man opportunities. Callahan shifted her way into the box and slipped a low shot in the net for a 5-3 advantage.

The Gladiators got two minutes of EMO and converted as Jenny Giampalmo finished a pass from Callahan with 15 minutes, 22 seconds left in regulation. Twenty seconds later, Lettellier found Pagnotta for an 8-4 lead.

The Blazers got to within 9-7 after Sydney Rosa's tally with 1:50 left. The Towson private school won the ensuing draw and Caitlyn Mossman finished with a close strike, but the official said she stepped in the crease before shooting and the score was waved off.

Callahan, who's committed to Duke, was proud of the effort against a deep Notre Dame Prep, which came ranked No. 3 nationally.

"They have 40-plus kids so it was a challenge keeping up. We do a lot training to make sure we're in shape and we stuck with them considering we had a smaller team," said Callahan. "We used that 'Level 10' mentality. We've worked very hard so far."

Notre Dame Prep rebounded with a 15-11 decision over third-ranked Marriotts Ridge. University of Florida commit Hannah Mardiney had three goals and two assists for the Blazers .

The IAAM A Conference school never trailed after closing the first half with a 7-1 run. Mossman, Grace Haus, Megan Jackson and Katie Railey each added two goals.

"We were able to clear the ball pretty well. We were dropping the ball all the time over there," said Notre Dame Prep coach Mac Ford. "We did a better job on the draw control."

UMBC recruit Lily Kennedy had four goals for Marriotts Ridge (6-1), which defeated Dulaney, 15-12, in the early contest. Louisville recruits Caroline Blalock and Sarah Blalock had four and three goals, respectively.

PAGNOTTA AND CALLAHANKaitlyn Dabkowski, a Florida recruit, had five goals for Dulaney (2-3) against Marriotts Ridge. Emma O'Grady had three goals and two assists against Glenelg.
