No. 2 Calvert Hall avenges an earlier loss to No. 5 Gilman

Nieto has four RBI to lead Cardinals
No. 2 Calvert Hall scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning, Monday, to finally subdue No. 5 Gilman and leave Roland Park with a 15-7 victory, avenging an earlier loss to the Greyhounds in MIAA A Conference baseball.

Gabe Nieto was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. All four Nieto RBI’s came on a grand slam home run in the seventh that capped the Cardinals’ 12-hit attack.

Parker Landwehr also had four RBI for the Cards, with a double and two walks. In addition, JP Murphy had three hits, including a double, with two runs scored and two RBI and AC Chavis also had two hits, with a run scored and two RBI.

Drew Ehrlich led Gilman (14-7, 6-3 MIAA A) with two hits, including a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Charlie Darby also had two hits and two RBI for the Greyhounds.

Calvert Hall (15-2, 8-2 MIAA A) touched up Gilman starter Mike Willis for six hits and four runs and then scored six times against reliever Danny Rosenfeld to build a 10-2 lead after four-and-a-half innings.

Gilman stayed in it with two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth before the Cardinals broke it open in the seventh.
