Turner's HR help rally Mavericks to 8-0
Casey Turner hit a two-run home run and junior Jodie Bronushas pitched a two-hitter as top-ranked Eastern Tech High defeated ninth-ranked Lansdowne, 3-2, in a Baltimore County Division II softball match Tuesday afternoon.
The Mavericks (8-0 overall, 6-0 Division I) trailed 1-0 in the fifth when Turner, who finished 2-for-3, gave the defending league champ the lead with the four-bagger. Lansdowne (5-2, 5-2 Division I), the last team to beat Eastern Tech in league play (2013), tied it in the home fifth before junior Natalie Bates' RBI single in the sixth put the Mavericks ahead for good.
Bronushas, who aided by two double plays, struck out five. The Mavericks host Patapsco Thursday afternoon.
