Avery WilliamsArchbishop Curley senior running back/defensive back Avery Williams took an official visit to Temple University on Saturday and prior to leaving the Philadelphia school, Williams accepted a scholarship offer to play Division 1 football for the Owls.

In addition to Temple, Williams had offers Stony Brook, Morgan State, Delaware State and Concord University.  According to Curley head coach Sean Murphy, Williams achieved his qualifying score on the SAT two weeks ago and since that point a slew of D-1 programs made visits to Curley's East Baltimore campus in an attempt to recruit Williams.  Those schools included Maryland, Duke, East Carolina, West Virginia, Delaware, Towson, Richmond and Rhode Island.

As a senior, Williams gained 1,354 yards on 165 carries (8.2 average) and scored 11 touchdowns.  On defense he had 46 tackles, six pass break ups and two forced fumbles.

Williams was named All-MIAA in 2011, as well 2nd team All-Metro and All-State.
