Jefferson scores 20 as No. 6 Cavaliers wins 18th

jefferson and pottsComing off its victory over then-No. 1 John Carroll School, Archbishop Spalding High continued its push for a high seed in the upcoming postseason, defeating St. Maria Goretti, 61-54, in a Baltimore Catholic League contest in Severn Wednesday.

Gary Jefferson (left in picture) scored 20 points for Spalding (18-7 overall), and Earl Potts (right) added 13. The Cavaliers remained tied for second with No. 4 Mount St. Joseph in the BCL standings (7-3).

The Cavaliers will take No. 2 St. Frances Academy, which is leading the MIAA A and BCL. The Panthers defeated Spalding, 61-51, last month in Severn.

Spalding stands second in the MIAA A (10-3), two games behind St. Frances (12-1).
