St. Vincent Pallotti, battling for one of the top two seeds in the MIAA B Conference, picked up ground on second place Annapolis Area Christian, on Friday, by easily defeating visiting Archbishop Curley, 74-60, in Laurel.
Pallotti outscored Curley (2-20, 0-15) 22-11 in the opening quarter and led by as many as 21 at the end of three quarters of play. With the victory, Pallotti improved to 18-5 overall and 11-3 in the league where they are in a virtual tie with AACS (12-4), which suffered a 50-49 loss to Severn on Friday, and three games back of first place Boys' Latin (15-1), which defeated St. Paul's 67-55 on Friday.
Nine different Panthers scored on Friday, led by Marcus Scott with 16 points. Jeff Holland scored 15, Tyriq Owens added 14 and Marquise Reed finished with nine.
Sophomore Deonte Harris paced Curley with 16 points and junior Haywood Highsmith added 15 points for the Friars.
