Eagle boys win four individual titles and the girls capture eight

It was a night for Eagles to soar at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex, Friday, as the McDonogh boys and girls each won indoor track titles.

The boys scored 127 points to finish 20 points atop of rival Gilman to win the MIAA championship, stopping the Greyhounds' bid for a third straight crown.

McDonogh captured individual titles with Nighel Scott (1:07.51 in 500 meters), Mikey Singer (1600 meters in 4:24.25), Josh Woods (5-10 in the high jump) and Andrew Robinson (51-03.00 in the shot put).

Gilman's champions included Cameron Helm (36.41 in the 300 meters), Jibri McLean (800 meters in 2:02.47), and it's 4x400 relay team (3:29.81) of Adam Aist, Chris Jackson, Helm and McLean.

Loyola, which finished third in the team standings with 102.5 points, had four individual victories.  The Dons got gold medals from Tyler Spear (3,200 meters in 9:39.12) and Connor Cunningham (long jump with a distance of 20-00.75), and won two relays.  Cunningham, Dominic Piedmont, Bernard Little and Connor Reynolds captured the 4x200 (1:33.30), while Connor Perry, Spear, Evan Pham and Ted Terpos won the 4x800 (8:08.94).

Mount St. Joseph (fourth with 89.5 ponts) received titles from Charles Fisher (55 meter hurdles in 7.88) and Landrie Hatcher (triple jump with a distance of 42-11.00), while the Dons got gold medals from Tyler Spear (3,200 meters in 9:39.12) and Connor Cunningham (long jump with a distance of 20-00.75).

Other individual champions included Troy Stokes of Calvert Hall, who won the 55 meters in 6.71, Tyler Spear of Loyola, who won the 3,200 meters in 9:39.12, and John Carroll's Austin Markley, who won the pole vault with a height of 11-06.00.

In the IAAM championships, McDonogh's dynasty rolled on as the Eagles scored 154 points to take the title.  John Carroll was second with 95 points, followed by third place Maryvale Prep (86.5) and fourth place Mount de Sales (84.5).

McDonogh won eight individual titles, including two by Lakin Hatcher, who prevailed in the 55 meters (7.41) and 300 meters (41.39).  Also winning for the Eagles were Sidney Hays (500 meters in 1:16.62), Mina Woods (55 meter hurdles in 9.62) and Stephanie Holmes (shot put with a distance of 32-06.50), as well as the Eagles 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams.

John Carroll's Kiana Wright was the events premier jumper, as she won the long jump (16-01.50) and the triple jump (34-06.00).

Elizabeth Gonzales of Catholic High was a double champion, as she won the 1,600 meters (4:56.04) and 3,200 meters (10:38.39)

Other individual champions included Jess Harris of Mount de Sales (800 meters in a time of 2:14.22), Jasmine Brown of Maryvale (high jump with a height of 5-00.00) and Oona Peacock of Notre Dame Prep (pole vault with a hight of 9-00.00).
