New Town finds second gear, pulls away from Pikesville

Shand and Wainwright each has 21 in 72-52 Baltimore County victory


Danny Shand and Keith Wainwright each scored 21 points as No. 16 New Town High overcame a slow start to defeat Pikesville, 72-52, in a Baltimore County 1A/2A boys’ basketball contest Friday evening.

Juwan Dorsey added 14 points for the Titans (15-2 overall, 7-1 1A/2A), whose 10-game winning streak was against Loch Raven Wednesday evening. The Owings Mills school trailed Friday, 22-13, after the opening quarter before outscoring the Parthers, 18-2, in the second to capture the lead.

Daquan Horn had 18 points to lead Pikesville, and Famule Christian finished with 16. The Panthers travel to Sparrows Point Wednesday in league action while New Town hosts Carver A&T.
