No. 4 Crusaders complete 3-0 week with a 12-6 win over Cheery Creek (CO)
St. Paul's wrapped up an impressive week of varsity lacrosse, Saturday, with a 12-6 win over Cherry Creek (CO), in Brooklandville.  It was the third win in the last seven days for the undefeated Crusaders, who also topped No. 16 Fallston and Cape Henlopen (DE) to move to 8-0 on the season.

The Crusaders broke out of a tight battle with last year's Colorado state finalist with two goals late in the second quarter.  Greg Louzan and Henry Riehl netted tallies 25 seconds apart to give St. Paul's a 6-3 advantage going into halftime.  In the second half, the Crusaders took full control of the game, increasing its lead to 9-3 by the end of the third quarter.  Mike D'Amelio then won 7-of-7 faceoffs in the final period as St. Paul's won going away.

Overall, D'Amelio won 16-of-21 draws, and scooped up 11 groundballs. Mikey Wynne led all scorers with three goals and an assist. Carter Flaig and Henry Riehl each added two goals and an assist. Flaig and Wynne were also relentless in the riding game, causing several turnovers that led to Crusader goals.

Greg Louzan and Connor Sheehan had two tallies each, and Alex McGovern added a single tally. Liam Anderson rounded out the scoring with a single assist. Once again, the defense, led by Mike Mayer, Travis Wood, Bennett Moore, AJ Fradkin, Zach Buhl, and Whit Schweizer held the high-scoring Coloradoans in check. Hunter Pearl registered three saves in the first half and AJ Barretto recorded four stops in the second half.

The Crusaders won the gorundball battle, 37-18, and outshot the visitors, 43-19.

It was the first loss of the year for Cherry Creek (4-1).
